Funeral Arrangements
In your time of grief, the parish wants you to know that we support you, pray with you, and pray for you.
Generally the time for a funeral Mass is arranged jointly by the funeral director and the parish. You may wish to involve family or friends e.g. reading Scripture or offertory (gift bearers). The day before the funeral Mass in the church, a prayer vigil service may be arranged at the funeral home. Eulogies by family members or friends are not permitted at the funeral Mass but may be included in the Vigil service, at the place of burial, or during the reception. Cremation is permitted.
In the parish, we have a committee of CWL volunteers who will prepare and serve a light luncheon following Mass. This is arranged and requested through the funeral home.
Normally, a practising Catholic has a Mass in the church on the day of burial. The Church will bury non-practising or non-Catholics but that is usually done with a service in the funeral home. If the deceased does not attend Mass in life, we do not intend to impose one in death.
